Should we substitute the value of √3?

Yes you can substitute
 \sqrt{3}
That is equals to1.73
so BD=50×1.73
BD=86.5

Well yes in such questions where you have to calculate the height or something then it is kinda necessary to get the correct value may it be in decimal form or whole no form but one should not leave it in √3 form so it would be better if you substitute the value of √3 = 1.732 and the calculate the final height.
