its quite simple...first draw a straight line.draw root 2 on it.make aperpendicular on the point to the right side of zero where ur root 2 line segment ends.mark 1 unit on the perpendicular line drawn such as u did for root2..then join the begining point diagonally to the perpendicular such that it meets at the 1 unit marked on the perpendicular
