In the case of 2 numbers:

512/2=256 , this gives you the average of the two numbers. Now you just need to go equally far in both directions to the next odd numbers, which would be 255 and 257. You can do the same for more numbers, but if the average has decimal points it usually doesn’t work (there most likely are some exceptions where it works regardless, but I don’t know how to test for that, it would be pretty complex).

512/4=128 , now you need pairs on both sides of the average. In this case, plus and minus one as well as plus and minus 3, so the numbers would be 125, 127, 129and 131.

***********************************************

512/8=64 , numbers are 57, 59, 61, 63, 65, 67, 69 and 71.

You could keep doing this for more numbers.
