[ H ] is a powerful chemical reducing agent. It might be used to reduce other substances at lower temperatures than those achieved in H2 , and as it's an electrically neutral specie it's not subjected to shielding effects. [ H ] means the hydrogen which is just generated in the chemical reaction
Experiment :
It can act as a reducing agent and it decolorize acidic KMnO4 to MnSO4. It will convert acidic K2Cr2O7 (orange) into Chromium sulfate [ Cr2(SO4)3 ] (green).
