U can represent it by Geometrical method.
(1) Mark the distance 5 unit from a fixed point A line to obtain a point B such that AB = 5 units.
(2) From B, mark a distance of 1 unit and mark new point as C.
(3) Find the mid point of AC and mark that point as O.
(4) Draw a semicircle with centre O and radius OC.
(5) Draw a perpendicular to AC passing through B and intersecting the semicircle at D.
(5) Then, BD =
 \sqrt{5}
