Hope it helps you....

(1) if two resistors are connected in parallel then their equivalent resistance is 3ohm then the resistor of 3ohm connected to the 6ohm resistor in series combination......

Hence the resistance is 9ohm...

(2)first connect two resistor in series then resistance is equals to 12ohm...and then connect these resistor with resistor of resistance 6ohm in parallel combination.... Then R=4ohm

Answer:

(i)

1/Rp = 1/R1 + 1/R2 = 1/6+1/6 = 2/6 = 1/3

Rp = 6 ohm

Rp+Rs=6+3 =9 ohm.

(ii)

Rs= R2+R3 = 6+6 = 12 ohm

1/Rp = 1/Rs + 1/R1

= 1/12+1/6

= (1+2)/12

= 3/12 = 1/4

Rp = 4 ohm.
