Grading system is indeed a boon. Ask the students who have recently got he result of the CBSE -10. The Students, Teachers Principals and the Nation.all are happy. Why? The all India result this year is 98% pass. The national literacy index has shot up. The Teaching staff were apprehensive about it, but the overall result is good, so they are smiling. The students are happy as the board upgraded their results based on formative and summative score. The weaker students get compartment even though they could not clear 4 out of 5 subjects. They get a second chance - actually more than that. The end result most are smiling.

The unhappy ones are some parents who are percentage frenzy. A1 and A2 is not good enough. No one comes first, It was pathetic for the student who scored 99.1 as there were three more above that mark. The child felt subdued in-spite such a high score. Now all are bunched with A1 and they are all happy. Grading system has maximized achievers and minimized failure.
