Explanation:
The opening scene starts with a stormy situation in the Tempest.Where a ship is met with a dangerous storm.
Right at the beginning of the play we see how a ship is met with a storm, " Tempest generally means a storm, and similarly the scene begins with a storm.
This storm signifies the anger and violence of one of the characters in the Tempest which unfolds later on.
This ship which has met with the storm has many royal passengers like, Alonso the King of Naples, Sebastian his brother, Antonio the Duke of Milan, Ferdinand the KIngs son, Gonzalo an honest old councilor.
The boatswain( who is incharge of the ship) tells the royal people to go below the deck while he tries to handle the stormy situation. The royal people are too proud and do not listen to them.
Gonzalo reminds the boatswain that he is talking to the King.
The royalty are not supposed to have power in such situations. There is highlighted a class diffrentials for royals are of higher class and boatswain and crew is in the lower class.
There comes a point that Boatswain askes, "if the king can solve this storm or not", obviously not, so they go below deck.
Later, the royals come back to bother the boatswain again.
When it gets declared that the ship is lost, then again the royal members are told to go below deck.
