WE know that
Gravitational force = GMm/r^2
where G is universal gravitational constant
M is mass of abject 1
and m is mass of object 2
r is the distance between two objects measured from their centers
By second law of newton we know that
Force= mass*acceleration
here let us say acceleration as g [here the force is gravitational force ]
therefore
GMm/r^2=m*g
i.e. g=GM/r^2
