Put x = 1, 1/2, -2 in the equation
1. 2*(1)^2 + (1)^2 - 5(1) + 2
= 2 + 1 + 2 - 5
= 0
Thus, it is a zero
2. 2*(1/2)^2 + (1/2)^2 - 5*1/2 + 2
= 1/2 + 1/4 - 5/2 + 2
= 2 + 1 - 10 + 8/4
= 1/4
This isn't a zero
2*(-2)^2 + (-2)^2 - 5 * -2 + 2
= 8 + 4 + 10 + 2
= 24
If my calculations are correct then 1 is a zero while 1/2 and -2 are not :/ can you double check the question?
