LHS = (1/cos ∅) - cos ∅
= (1 - cos²∅)/cos ∅
= sin² ∅/cos∅
= (sin∅/cos∅) × sin∅
= tan ∅ .sin ∅
= RHS

hence proved!

here, (1-cos²A) = sin²A
sinA/cosA = tan A
