We know that ,
cotA = 1/tanA
**********************************
LHS = ( 1 - tan²A )/( cot²A - 1 )
= ( 1 - tan²A )/[ 1/tan²A - 1 )]
= ( 1 - tan²A )/ [ ( 1 - tan²A )/tan²A ]
After cancellation ,
= tan²A
= RHS
