Let √2 is a rational number which can be express as in the p/q form.

So we can write,

√2=p/q

(√2)²=(p/q)²

2=p²/q²

p²/q²=2

p²=2q²

Even p² is a positive number

let, p=2m

p²=(2m)²

p²=4m²

So, 2q²=4m²

Hence, q²=2m²

Hope it help you...!!
