show that 2x-3 is a factor of 2x^3+3x^2-5x-6 using factor theoram

I have a doubt

does the question say it is a factor because if it is a factor when you substitute 2/3 in the place of  x you will have no variable therefore you can equate it and when you equate it you should get 0 if it is a factor.

I tried equating it I am not getting 0.
