Let us assume that 5-root3 is rational and 5-root 3 is equal to a/b where a and b are two co-primes.

So, 5-root3=a/b

root 3=5-a/b

root 3 =5b-a/b

Now, root3 is a rational number but this contradicts the fact that root3 is an irrational number.

Thus our assumption that 5-root3 is rational is wrong.

Hence 5-root 3 is irrational.

HENCE PROVED.
