Yes........ it is an irrational no.

As √3 has an non terminating value so if we minus 5 from it then we obviously get a non terminating value so we can say..

let 5-√3 be rational

there fore

5-√3=a/b

(where a and b are coprime integers)

√3=5-a/b

but we know √3 is irrational and no rational no. is equal to rational no. therefore there is contradiction in our assumption...

hence proved that 5-√3 is rational...

Or you could prove √3 be irrational and then write that any operation with irrational no. is irrational
