TO PROVE :

ar(∆ABD) = ar(∆ADC)

CONSTRUCTION :

Draw AL \perp BC .

PROOF :

Since AD is the median of ∆ABC. Therefore, D is the mid-point of point BC.

→ BD = DC

→ BD × AL = DC × AL BD = DC

→ 1/2 ( BD × AL ) = 1/2 ( DC × AL )

→ ar ( ∆ABD ) = ar ( ∆ADC )
