Material required : a glass,water and a cardboard piece
Procedure : Take a glass filled with water up to its brim. Take a cardboard piece and place it over the water surface. Press the palm of your left hand on the top of the cardboard and quickly invert the glass with your right hand. What do u observe ??
Observation and conclusion: You will observe that the cardboard does not fall off the glass although whole weight of water contained in the glass is acting on it. It is because the atmospheric air pressure from underneath just balances the downward weight of water. Thus,it is clear that air exerts pressure.
