 Let \: p(x) = 2x^{2} + 5x + 3

 If \: (x+1) \:is \:a \: factor \: of \: then \: the \:remainder\\ p(-1)

/* Replace x with -1 ,we get */

 p(-1) = 2(-1)^{2} + 5(-1) + 3 \\= 2-5+3 \\= 5 - 5 \\= 0

 \therefore p(-1) = 0

/* By factor theorem */

 \green { (x+1) \: is \:a \: factor \: of \: 2x^{2} + 5x + 3 }
