$If \: (x+1) \:is \:a \: factor \: of \: then \: the \:remainder\\ p(-1)$

$p(-1) = 2(-1)^{2} + 5(-1) + 3 \\= 2-5+3 \\= 5 - 5 \\= 0$

$\therefore p(-1) = 0$
