Answer:

x+1= 0

x= -1

p(x) = x³-x²-10x-8

p(-1)= (-1)³-(-1)²-10(-1)-8

    = -1-1 +10-8 = -2+2=0

therefore (x+1) is a factor of x³-x²-10x-8
