Show that if a+b is not equal to 0 then a(x-a)=2ab-b(x-b) has a solution x=a+b

Given that,

a (x - a) = 2ab - b (x - b)

⇒ ax - a² = 2ab - bx + b²

⇒ ax + bx = a² + 2ab + b²

⇒ (a + b) x = (a + b)²

⇒ (a + b) x = (a + b) (a + b)

⇒ x = a + b,
where (a + b) is not equal to 0

Thus, x = a + b is a solution. [Proved]
