Show that photosynthesis is endothermic and respiration is exothermic reaction
Answers
Answer:
in photosynthesis heat energy is required in form of sunlight to form glucose hence it is an endothermic process whereas in respiration energy is released by breakdown of oxygen molecules to.produce energy hence it is exothermic reaction...

Experiment 1
Aim: Photosynthesis is an endothermic reaction.
Material Required: Tuber, starch solution and two potted plants.
Procedure:
1. Take two potted plant and place one under sunshine and another in a dark room.
2. Wait for few days and then bring both of them in laboratory.
3. Pluck leaves from both plants and wash them with alcohol solution.
4. Take starch solution and drop it in leaves of each plant.
5. The leaves of fist potted plant will turn blue but of another one will remain same.
Conclusion: When starch is dropped in leaves of first plant then glucose formed in reaction in presence of light energy reacts with starch to turn blue in colour.
This change in colour don't takes place in another plant which shows that reaction of glucose formation needs light energy.
Experiment 2
Aim: To show respiration is an exothermic process.
Procedure:
1. Bring your hand near mouth and exhale air strongly.
2. You will feel warmness in air you exhaled
Conclusion: This concluds that while respiration not only carbon dioxide and glucose but also heat is produced as energy.
Note
1. Endothermic reaction where energy is needed as reactant.
2. Exothermic reaction where energy is produced as a product.
