where r is an rational no.

let it is equal to r

√3 + √5 = r

squaring both side

(√3 +√5) ^2 = r^2

3 + 5 +2√15 = r^2

2√15 = r^2 - 8

√15 = r^2 -8 / 2

We know that, √15 is an irrational no.

So our assumption is wrong
