√3 - √5

Let 3 - 5 be of the form p/q where p and q are integers, q isn't equal to zero and p and q are coprime i.e., they have 1 as common factor.

Then √3 = p/q + √5

√3 = p +q√5/q..........p and q are integers and hence rational

this means rhs is rational

but this contradicts the fact that √3 is irrational

hence our supposition is wrong

and √3 -√5 is irrational
