We know that a + 1/a (eq. 1)is greater than equal to 2

 {sec}^{2} x = {tan}^{2} x + 1
 {cosec}^{2} x = {cot}^{2} x + 1
So,
 {sec}^{2} x + {cosec}^{2} x = 2 + {tan}^{2} x + {cot}^{2} x
From eq. 1 we can say that
 {tan}^{2} x + {cot}^{2} x \geqslant 2
Hence,

 {sec}^{2} x + {cosec}^{2} x \geqslant 2 + 2
So,

 {sec}^{2} x + {cosec}^{2} x \geqslant 4
