Diffusion can also happen in liquids. This is because the particles in liquids can move around each other, which means that eventually they are evenly mixed. For example if you drop a little bit of paint into a jar of water the colour will spread slowly through the water. This is by diffusion.

Solids can also diffuse. put a chalk mark on black board and in five years it will be permanent. Pure lead can diffuse into pure gold. The thermal Kinetic energy causes particles in solid to vibrate and eventually diffuse although the process is slow.

 

The KTM is based on assumption and axioms like collisions are elastic and molecules dont attract.
