magnification in lenses=v/u - (1)

m=v/u

(1/f)=(1/v)-(1/u)

(1/v)=(1/f)+(1/u)

taking lcm (in rhs),

(1/v)=(u+f)/uf

taking reciprocal,

v=uf/(f+u)

substituting value of v in (1),

m=f/(f+u)
