weight of the object is also a force which is acting in the downward direction
w = mg..... 2
on combining 1 and 2,
mg = GMm / r^2
on cancelling m,
g = GM / r^2
Hence we can say that the acceleration due to gravity is not dependent on the mass of the object since it however gets cancelled on both the sides while deriving the formula
