Show that the area imder the speed- time graph for a particle moving at a constant speed gives the distance covered by the particle.

see diagram, here speed - time graph for a particle moving at a constant speed v.

Let after time t, we have to find distance travelled by particle.

area of shaded region ( see figure) = area of rectangle

= length × breadth

= t × v

= vt

= speed × time.

but we know, speed × time = distance

it means, area under the speed - time graph for a particle moving at a constant speed gives the distance travelled by the particle.
