(1) By the property of angling bisector, an angle bisector of a triangle dividesthe oopposite sides in the proportion of its remaining two sides. Since the two sides of an isosceles triangle are congruent, hence it bisects the base. (2) Altitude and median of an isosceles triangle coincide with each other. Therefore it is perpendicular to the base.
