Show that the delay rate 'R' of a sample of a radio nuclei is related to the number of radio active nuclei 'N' at the same instant by the expression R=λN

For a radioactive sample, the rate of disintegeration is given by  

R = -dn/dt --- equation 1

According to radioactive decay law

= -dn/dt ∞ N --- equation 2

= -dn/dt =  λN  

Thus, R = λN

Activity of sample is calculated as-  

R = λN = 0.693/ T.12 * N

= 0.693/1.5 *10`17 * 25 * 10`20

= 11550 disintegrations per second
