We have to connect three each of resistance 6 ohm so that the combination had resistance of (1) 9ohm (2) 4ohm

1) 9 ohm

----------| R1 | ---------

----------| R2 | ----------

----------| V ..| ----------

First two resistors each of resistance 6 ohm are connected in parallel.

1/Rp = 1/R1 + 1/R2

1/Rp = 1/6 + 1/6

1/Rp = (1 + 1)/6

1/Rp = 2/6

1/Rp = 1/3

Rp = 3 ohm

Now,

------| Rp |------| R3 |-----

--------------| V | ------------

Both the resistors (Rp and R3) are connected in series. So,

Rs = Rp + R3

Rs = 3 + 6

Rs = 9 ohm

2) 4 ohm

------| R1 |------| R2 |------

--------------| V | -------------

Firstly, the resistors are connected in series. So,

Rs = R1 + R2

Rs = 6 + 6

Rs = 12 ohm

Now, the resultant resistors of resistance 12 ohm (Rs) and R3 are connected in parallel such that,

----------| Rs | ---------

----------| R3 | ----------

----------| V ..| ----------

1/Rp = 1/Rs + 1/R3

1/Rp = 1/12 + 1/6

1/Rp = (1 + 2)/12

1/Rp = 3/12

1/Rp = 1/4

Rp = 4 ohm
