Hence it is shown that the mid-point of the line segment joining the points (5, 7) and (3, 9) is also the mid-point of the line segment joining the points (8, 6) and (0, 10).

(4, 8) is the mid-point.

Mid-point formula

(x,y) = [ ( x1 + x2 ) / 2 , ( y1 + y2 ) /2 ]

Given,

(5, 7) and (3, 9)

(x,y) = [ ( 5+ 3 ) / 2 , ( 7 + 9 ) /2 ]

= [ 8/2 , 16/2 ]

= [ 4, 8 ] ...........(1)

Now, consider

(8, 6) and (0, 10)

(x,y) = [ ( 8 + 0 ) / 2 , ( 6 + 10 ) /2 ]

= [ 8/2 , 16/2 ]

= [ 4, 8 ] ..........(2)

comparing (1) and (2), we can prove that,

the mid-point of the line segment joining the points (5, 7) and (3, 9) is also the mid-point of the line segment joining the points (8, 6) and (0, 10).
