Answer:

The motion of Simple Pendulum as Simple Harmonic Motion

When we pull a simple pendulum from its equilibrium position and then release it, it swings in a vertical plane under the influence of gravity. It begins to oscillate about its mean position. Therefore, the motion is periodic and oscillatory.

Calculate the period of oscillations according to the formula above: T = 2π * √(L/g) = 2π * √(2/9.80665) = 2.837 s . Find the frequency as the reciprocal of the period: f = 1/T = 0.352 Hz.

A pendulum is a weight suspended from a pivot so that it can swing freely. When a pendulum is displaced sideways from its resting, equilibrium position, it is subject to a restoring force due to gravity that will accelerate it back toward the equilibrium position.
