Show that the progression 10,6,2, - 2 ,-6......... is an A.P write down its (i) first term (ii) common difference (iii) 10 th term

(I) 10

(ii) (-4)

(iii) -26

a1 = 10

a2= 6

a3=2

d= a2-a1 = a3-a2

= 6 - 10 = 2 - 6

= (-4) = (-4)

therefore this is an AP

because the d is constant

because,

an = a + (n -1)d

= 10 + ( 10-1 ) (-4)

= 10 + (9)(-4)

= 10 + (-36)

= 10 - 36

= (-26)
