Show that there is no positive integer n for which √(n -1 ) + √(n+1) is rational.

yes you r correct.....put 2,3,4,5.... in the place of n and you will always get an irrational number....but if you put 1 ..then you will get a rational number.....so n will not belong to 1........hope this hint will help you to get the answer....
