Answer:

x + 1 = 0

x = -1

put x = -1 ,

p(-11) = 2(-1)^3 + (-1)^2 - 2 (-1) -1

= 2(-1) + (1) + 2 - 1

= -2 +1 +2 -1

= 0

hence, (x+1) is the factor is the polynomial ....

now, x-1 = 0

x = 1

put x = 1 ,

p(1) = 2 (1)^3 + (1) - 2 (1) -1

= 2 (1) + 1 - 2 - 1

= 2 + 1 - 2 - 1

= 0

hence , (x - 1 ) is a factor of given equation.....
