Answer:

1.let p(x)= x³-5x²-x+5

q(x)=(x-1)

let q(x)=0

so x-1=0,x=1

putting the value of x in the polynomial

p(1)=1³-5×1²-1+5=0

so x-1 is a factor of the polynomial

2. x³-5x²-x+5=(x-1)(x²-4x-5)

(x-1)(x²-5x+4x-5)=(x-1)(x-5)(x+1)
