Show that x+1 is the factor of x2-1

x² - 1 = (x + 1)(x - 1) --------> by the identity a² - b² = (a + b)(a - b)

The factorization of x²- 1 contains (x + 1).

∴ (x + 1) is a factor of x² - 1
