Answer:

g(x) = (x - 2) = 0

⇒ x = 2

p(x) = 3x² - x - 10

p(2) = 3(2)² - 2 - 10

p(2) = 12 - 12

p(2) = 0

Hence by remainder theorem x - 2 is a factor of p(x)

3x² - x - 10

⇒ 3x² - 6x + 5x - 10

⇒ 3x(x - 2) + 5(x - 2)

⇒ (x - 2)(3x + 5)
