Answer & Step-by-step explanation:

p(x) = x³ + 4x² + x - 6

g(x) = x + 2

Put g(x) = 0 to find its zero.

x + 2 = 0

(x = -2)

Put x = -2 in p(x) to find remainder by REMAINDER THEOREM,

p(-2) = (-2)³ + 4(-2)² + (-2) - 6

        = -8 + 8 - 2 - 6

        = -8

∴ Remainder ≠ 0,

⇒ g(x) is not a factor of p(x).
