To find :

we need to show that x - 3 is a factor of given polynomial or not.

solution :

If x - 3 is a Factor of given polynomial then if we put the value of x in the given polynomial then value will came 0.

So, let's check :

  • x - 3
  • x = 3

Now putting value of x in the given polynomial.

x³ + x² - 17x + 15

= 3³ + 3² - 17 × 3 + 15

= 27 + 9 - 51 + 15

= 51 - 51

= 0

Hence, we get 0

So, x - 3 is factor of given polynomial .

NOTE :- Here is a little bit mistake in the Question it's 17x not 17.
