x + y : x - y = 3 : 2, proved.

Step-by-step explanation:

We have,

x + y : x - y = 3 : 2

To prove that, x + y : x - y = 3 : 2.

x + y = 3         ....(1)

And,

x - y = 2         ....(2)

Adding (1) and (2), we get

x + y + x - y = 3 + 2

⇒ 2x = 5

⇒ x = \dfrac{5}{2}

Put x = \dfrac{5}{2} in (1), we get

\dfrac{5}{2} + y = 3

⇒ y = 3 - \dfrac{5}{2}=\dfrac{6-5}{2} =\dfrac{1}{2}

x + y : x - y = (\dfrac{5}{2}+ \dfrac{1}{2}) : (\dfrac{5}{2}+ \dfrac{1}{2})

= 3 : 2

Hence, x + y : x - y = 3 : 2, proved.
