Kidney dialysis, for all practical purposes is an artificial kidney which functions in removing solutes and toxins from the blood, but not as complex as one might imagine.
The mechanism by which dialysis works involves simple diffusion and osmosis, is generally taught to children in the United States as early as middle school and the study of artificial organs can seem intimidating and beyond the comprehension of those with only a general knowledge of science.

Dialysis works on the principle of ultra-filtration of fluids and diffusion of solutes.
There are mainly two type of dialysis that are commonly followed across the world.
They are
Haemodialysis which works by diverting the blood to an external machine where the blood is filtered from impurities.
Peritoneal dialysis which works by pumping dialysis fluid inside the space left in the abdomen in order to separate waste products.
