show the formation of Na2O and MgO by the transfer of electrons

first of all are you a school going student or a college student....
as their will be different explanations as per your understanding....
if you are a school going student then this is your question's explanation....
Na has 1 electron in its outermost shell...always the last orbit electron that is the valency shell electron decides the reactivity....
similarly oxygen has 2 electron in its outermost shell...
now two Na atoms combine with 1 oxygen atom,thus forming Na2O



similarly MgO is formed by Mg and O. both have 2 electron in its outermost shell....
