Photosynthesis transfers electrons from water to carbon dioxide molecules forming energy-rich molecules.

This elctron transfer is an exampleod exidation-reduction reaction. The CO2 gets reduced by gaining electrons and the water is oxidized by losing electrons. The reaction is :

CO2 +H20 --> (CH2O) + O2.

This is a simple version of the reduction reaction in Photosynthesis.

Answer:

Photosynthesis is type of redox reaction in which water is oxidized and carbon dioxide is reduced.

Oxidation of water is a half-oxidation reaction in which water is oxidized to release free electrons and oxygen with the help of light energy.

2H₂O → 4H⁺ + 4e⁻ + O₂

In reduction reaction, CO₂ is reduced to sugar in which products of light dependent reaction (ATP and NADPH) are used as reducing agents.

4H⁺ + CO₂ → (CH₂O) + H₂O

Reduction-half reaction is the reduction of NADP⁺ to NADPH.

NADP⁺ 2e⁻ + 2H⁺ → NADPH + H⁺
