the stone thrown vertically upwards with initial velocity

In first case

initial velocity=u

final velocity=0

acceleration=-g

time =t1

v=u+gt1

0=u-gt1

u=-gt

t1=u/-g. ( 1)

In second case

initial velocity=0

final velocity=u

acceleration=-g

time =t2

v=u+gt2

u=0-gt2

u=-gt2

t2=u/-g ( 2)

from (1) and (2)

t1=t2
