Some steps that you can take include:

  1. Think logically- Many people who are unable to appreciate themselves often feel that they are at fault no matter what. So, if you do not clear an interview, you need to analyse the situation logically, instead of blaming yourself for it. Think of the number of candidates, your level of experience, your confidence levels and then come to a conclusion. Not being suitable for a post does not mean that you are not good. It only means that there may be someone better than you.
  2. Accept the truth- Once you have understood the logical reasoning behind something, you next need to accept the truth and work on it with a positive mindset. Maybe you need to work on your confidence, or need more practice, or need a better presentation.  
  3. Setting tiny milestones- You need to set small milestones for yourself. These must be tasks that you can manage on your own. Each task that you accomplish will be an achievement and will help you appreciate your own efforts in handling pending tasks.
  4. Reward yourself- Each time you accomplish a task, reward yourself. It is important to reward yourself to make sure that your motivation levels remain high even if others do not appreciate you. You could treat yourself to a movie, or a meal at a fancy restaurant or even buy something for yourself.  
  5. Maintain a diary- Maintaining a diary helps in self-appreciation because it records all the positive emotions you feel when you accomplish something. Also, reading over those positive entries often reinforces your faith in yourself and helps you appreciate yourself.  

 

All of this goes on in a cycle. If you stick to these steps, you will develop the habit of self-appreciation, which is a positive habit.
