Answer:

Given :

Rectangle ABCD,

In that E and F are the midpoints of side AB and CD respectively.

To find :

The area of the shaded region

Solution :

Refer the image for the figure and dimensions and formulas used for answering the question..

As it is given that E and F are the Midpoints of sides AB and CD respectively which means that it divided the side into two equal parts..

So in side AB

AE = 7cm ; EB = 7cm

And in side CD

CF = 7cm ; FD = 7cm

--------------------------------------------------------

To unravel this question, we'll first find the area of the rectangle ABCD and area of △ACF and △EFD, then we'll subtract the area of both the triangles from the total area of rectangle to get the area of the remaining shaded region...

--------------------------------------------------------

☆ Area of rectangle ABCD = 14 × 28 = 392cm^2

--------------------------------------------------------

☆ In △ACF,

\begin{gathered}Area = \frac{1}{2} \times 7 \times 28\\\end{gathered}

Area=

2

1

×7×28

= > 7 \times 14 = 98 {cm}^{2}=>7×14=98cm

2

--------------------------------------------------------

☆ In △EFD,

\begin{gathered} = > Area = \frac{1}{2} \times 7 \times 28\\\end{gathered}

=>Area=

2

1

×7×28

= > 7 \times 14 = 98 {cm}^{2}=>7×14=98cm

2

--------------------------------------------------------

Now we'll do our next step i.e. subtracting the area of rectangle from the areas of both the triangles..

= > 392 - 98 - 98 = 196=>392−98−98=196

Therefore, the area of the remaining shaded region is 196cm^2..

Hope it helped you..
