Answer:

Let be breadth = x ft

The length of rectangle = (4+2x)ft

By Question,

Area of rectangle = length× breadth

48ft² = xft(4+2x)ft

48=4x+2x²

0=2x²+4x-48

2x²+4x-48=0

2x²+(12-8)x-48=0

2x²+12x-8x-48=0

2x(x+6)-8(x+6)=0

(x+6)(2x-8)=0

x+6=0

x=-6

and ,

2x-8=0

2x=8

x=8/2

x=4

Hence, breadth=4

length=4+2x

length=4+2×4

length=4+8

length=12
